I was very surprised with this pressing. The overall fidelity is impressive, fantastic pressing. Punchy along with a sharp high-end, and great separation. Everything just glimmers. Yes, this pressing can be said to make Death "glimmer"!

This OG press kicks hard, it has more rawer and sharper sound than recent reissues.

Can anyone comment on the sound quality compared to the original CD pressing? The original CD has a pretty high dynamic range, does this pressing sound any better?

Without the European Tour disaster one year earlier - after some weak US Shows, Chuck cancelled the Tour and took a few days off. But for the sake of money, the promoter and the other Death came to Europe!? Without the mastermind of Death (he wrote all the Songs, all the Lyrics...) Chuck Schuldiner!!?? For me this was just a Death Cover Band!
And now the only good part of this Tour: Chuck fired these guy. He knew that the next Album was the most important Death Record ever. This was the first time Chuck could unleashed his creativity with amazing musicians on his side: From Cynic, Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal (drums & guitar) and for the bass, his old friend (and one of the best Bass players in Metal) Steve DiGorgio. The rest is history...
Chuck was back with by far the best Death Metal Album at this time, the first Technical Death Metal Album ever and a Classic that stands the test of time.
The liner notes of Chuck said it all: "This was much more than a record for me, this was revenge!"
