Edited 8 years ago"Morning Star" from the first dark ambiance to the typical Sandoz' electronic sounds is an epic voyage of 14 minutes with a crazy dub fast paced broken beat but the voyage doesn't end there, Richard H. Kirk brings you a colourful Samba world with the song "Heist"; when the bass starts kicking, it tickles my ears and when the beat goes more techno, my heart jumps for joy. The rhythm is infectious, down to the synth and the repetitive vocals.
"Sniper" is a little bit darker and grittier but goes into the light with the echoed piano notes. Very dance floor orientated.
"Future Past" is a classic Sandoz Ambient dub tune with hints of industrial in the beat and few samples. Throughout the 16 minutes, the song evolves beautifully; it goes through broken beats, dark edges, a silent moment with only hihats for company and then the synth kicks in à la Sandoz! The atmosphere becomes more light-hearted. This song is a classic!
"Shadowmask" starts with dark jazzy samples and continues on an upbeat dub. RHK mixes the genres like he mixes emotions, the song is both upbeat and melancholic, both dark and light. Very interesting!
"Glass Factory" starts like an ambient track and turns into electro dub, brilliant!
"The Wreckers" is very jazzy and nice! Great way to finish the album.
If you are already a fan of Sandoz, get this album to complete your collection as there are very nice tracks on this project. If you are new to Sandoz, this is a great introduction and if you are hooked, your next move is to get the Digital Lifeforms (preferably the Redux edition).
