I have a palm tree version, but side 1 is a Dixie Chicken label (the music is Feats Don't Fail). Has anyone else seen this misprint? I don't see a listing for it.

My record has a blank back cover oddly. Is this a misprint found through multiple releases or just one in particular?

So much is owed to Little Feat and the sound they created ... for all of their success they have remained the underdogs, and cult favorites ... as one of the undisputed leaders of the jam band circuit, they have been ignored by all by the most devoted of fans. The Feat are no "Johnny Come Latelies" either, originally formed in 1969, at the hind end of the psychedelic movement, and at the beginning of the country honk, favored by Ry Cooder, Gram Parsons, along with harmonies that would be developed by fledgling Eagles.

The band had always been centered around Lowell George, who at one time had been a member of Frank Zappa's Mothers Of Invention. But truth be told, other came from established groups such as Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, where they learned their game, developing not only rock sensibilities, but mixing blues, funk, R&B and their own special take on a form of jazz fusion, along with some of the sweetest harmonies that had here to fore, ever been heard ... but it wasn't stylish lush harmonies such as the Beach Boys had perfected, the harmonies of Little Feat were merged with the instrumentation, delivered as if their vocals were extensions of their instruments, a vocal riff answering, or in response to an instrumental riff, rather than singing to the audience.

The Feat have always been tight, and many have tried to follow in their shoes, bands such as the Doobie Brothers, but none have ever been able to hold a candle to the work laid down by George and the boys. For my money this is one of their best releases, but that's assuming that I could actually pick which album from their catalog I felt was the best. It's one thing to have a tight album, it's another to have that album flow and feel good. Little Feat have been able to do both, and will certainly gain more historical fame as time es, where folks find their way back to the genesis of the sounds they dig.

A short story if you'll induce me ... I caught Little Feat opening for ELO in Sacramento in the late 70's. I was standing by the soundboard, which was located in the center of the hall, when the road manger from ELO came up and told the sound man to, and I quote, "Make 'em sound shitty." I actually turned to the sound man when that pretentious road manger had left asking, "Are you actually going to do that?" He shrugged his shoulders replying, "What can I do, they're paying the bills." That night, even with no help from the sound board, Little Feat blistered the paint from the seats.

*** The Fun Facts: Neon Park is the artist responsible for all covers except that of Little Feat's first album, this time featuring George Washington and what appears to be Norma Jean on a treacherous ride through the mountains, about to be struck by lightning.
