Recording itself sounds phenomenal… feel like I’m right there on the stage. Hope it can work itself out or improve with more cleaning, but definitely some nuisance surface noise on my first spin. Harder to ignore on a solo piano performance with dynamics like this.

No matter how much you love Pink Floyd, Beethoven, John Mayall or Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett will always impress you. And this concert is the point to start with and the point to finish with, as well. I love it since I've heard it for the first time. It was in the early '90; I was still in my first year at the university and one of my girl friends had it on a reel to reel tape. "Can you play it one more time?" was my boring question, so much often, Anyway, finally I got it on vinyl. It is a pristine copy from ECM Records, dead silent. Keith's playing and moans are mesmerizing. I can't recommend it more. I don't know about other versions, but if you love Keith Jarrett and you want him on vinyl, you can't go wrong with this release.

Variant 2 of the string etched in the runouts seems highly different from variant 1. Aren't those variants actually different releases, the second being pressed (or at least plated by) Pallas? The stamped "-1044-" and "-1045-" are suspect, albeit those numbers were supposedly used by Pallas a long time ago, much earlier than 2004...
Variant 2 is the same string as the one etched on the limited clear vinyl version, supposedly released in 2015: Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert -
Edited one year agoFinally own a copy... 😉
And as much as I love Keith Jarrett's music I do love cuts done by Kr at SST, formerly known as SST Brüggemann. Thumbs up, Mr. Krieger!!! Brilliant copy... -
There is some light surface noise even after cleaning with Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner. It may work itself out after more play.
Where is this pressed in ? -
Edited 6 months agoGreat double record with soaring melodies that still leave me speechless (although I've heard them a couple times in my life). Overall sound quality is very good but very very noisy: repeatedly very loud pops and tics I can’t seem to get rid of no matter how much I clean the damn thing. Not an album I put on regularly but when I'm in the mood for killer pianomagic I always turn to this one. Absolutely love it.

My favourite Keith Jarrett's solo piano concert, followed by the Vienna Concert.
Part 1 sounds awesome, silent, very emotional.
Part 2A sounds very nice.
Part 2B sounds very nice.
Part 2C is a bit noisy - tried to wet clean it by hand but could not totally solve the issue.
