Terrific sound, loud, deep and clear. They don't come any better. A&M trumpet pressings are usually great.

Cheap Mix (bad mics M88) and MONO! beware... next one is better!

Can anyone recommend specific pressings of the first two albums? I have some earlier copies that are plagued with god awful sibilance and it doesn't seem to be a simple matter of wear and tear.

How is it that there's a US George Peckham cut of this (https://discogs.programascracks.com/Joe-Jackson-Look-Sharp/release/10428504), which one must assume used British metal at the time, but there's no corresponding Porky UK pressing..? I have plenty of US Pecko cuts (e.g., the US 'Singles Going Steady') that are sourced from the UK UK release, but this JJ is the first I've seen that has no UK Porky.

My copy : on back cover top right, a sticker with French price code CB 271.

Do not see mine listed, the 10" 2x set. While the A&M disc labels both read SP 3666, on the cover spine is a paste over showing a catalog # of SP6017. Apparently this copy is from 1982 from what I've researched and was never properly repressed when stock ran out, the paste over being common with A&M at the time.

As Westcotes54 says, this is a strong post punk/new wave record - Jackson wasn't as talented as Costello, but he was sharper than, say, Graham Parker. If you're a fan of this record, this (original UK) pressing is the one to get - sounds amazing, I was actually really surprised. Really punchy, decent soundstage, and clear definition to Maby's bass.

Poor old Joe had suffered from comparison with Elvis Costello at the time, but to me this stands as one of the best post punk LP's. The title track is a stunner and stands true to the post punk ethos. His later work I think became diluted and he never quite matched the promise shown on this album. Worth a listen.
