Mostly a hard panned mix vocals alone in the centre. Bob’s voice is clear and wonderful. This is a beautiful, rich and full pressing. Appears to share plates with 1st American pressings, thus a cheaper option for those looking for a great sounding first pressing. Highly recommended.

Edited 3 years agoAs far as Self Portrait was meant as a time capsule at its inception, it reaches its full potential here: on a fifty-year-old vinyl record. It all makes sense now that contemporary pressures and expectations have faded into the background. What it couldn't tell people in 1970 about their own time, comes into focus in the 2020s.
The yellowing sleeve and slightly faded classic-red Columbia labels, the ever-present but consistent and warm hiss, and the rustic pictures and fonts fulfill the concept that Bob perhaps foresaw when he released it. The fact that it is a Canadian pressing is icing on the cake: it places the album outside the pressure cooker that is American culture.
