The sound of this album doesn´t belong to the best, also what I did listen from another reissues. I will not complain of the idea that modern CD version can be better, even I am not buying any CD for more than two decades. Still I am happy with this copy of this album for many years, because I am fascinating of music. To me there is again some mystery how they met in studio. Three strong individuality with different sense of jazz. Ellington added there his typical musical structure and composition, Mingus drive and audacity, Roach perfect technique. The way how they integrate in Caravan is amazing, even at the and of session they got on nerves. I like the way how Ellington uses the sound of piano in last song or the tension of trio in African Flower. The result is very strong and timeless. In some parts sound of the piano has small distortion and some sources stated thanks to recording. Anyway this reissue is very solid except the cheap cover. Probably time to change for Tone Poet reissue...
