Edited 2 months agoOnce again we get a play on words with the use of the tapes. Bob jackson said he only had access to the digital stems/files from the original master tapes. Bottom line is very few modern repressed vinyl is cut DIRECTLY from the tapes with NO digital steps. Even when the hype sticker states it on many of these re-releases there is always a digital step in there. Regarding the sound quality on head first - it is excellent and certainly beats the snapper versions but these record companies need to be up front with the chain. Look what happened to mo-fi. It’s deceptive

Fantastic record. Been a big fan of their popular stuff for ages. "Wish You Were Here" blew me away when I first heard it, Sam reaction to Head First. Nice pressing and remix.

Edited 4 months agoExcellent release! Vinyl is clean, flat, no surface noise and sounds terrific! This is by far the best I’ve ever heard this material sound.

This is the first time that Head First has been properly mixed from the original multitrack tapes, and it sounds so much better than the previous release, which came from a rough mix.
It's great to hear the songs in a more polished form. The mix reveals what the group was working toward and it would have been a worthy follow up to their fine previous release, Wish You Were Here. -
