Tyla+ deluxe vinyl released on 24th Jan 2025 - with only 2 versions of Water, the three new tracks… and No.1 with Tems!!

I just grabbed this for 16 euros at Fnac and honestly I have nothing to complain about. This pressing sounds amazing and this is such a fun debut. Are the three versions of Water necessary ? Certainly not. But I saw a couple dudes took the time to write long ass misogynistic paragraphs about how half-cooked the album was when honestly Tyla's already showing so much talent and variety. Get a grip guys

Edited 11 months agoTyla and "Water" was promising. She get a lot of play here in Asia where i been staying for a year. I was at a party with my job where they played track after track of awful music and suddenly they played "Water" and i was like "Who the hell is this artist". First time it caught my ear.
Then came the album. Sounds great but felt half done. Sort of in the same shoes regarding Cybercollectors review. The direction of this album is a very narrow one-way street to me. I also felt that this was a hasty released album. Cook up some lyrics, make some beats. Pack it, wrap it, sell it.. Go!
Sadly, Artist like Tyla rarely stay true too long. The sound is deep, rooted and in par with the stuff Louie Vega did years back to name some. But i can almost bet the next album will be in a way more commercial street when that time comes. I think she will be too easy target for music corpo´s to spit and devour. Just her act and music videos shows that. She makes good music, but plays way to much on sex.. Wrong focus.. but it sells..
This album could have been a helluva lot more if they had taken some time and crafted out some different stuff as well. But the whole thing felt way too one-directional to me. This girl is young and relatively fresh on the market, But one should not squander your first album that much. Some good tracks here but an album should always reach further than just one-sound.
