Edited 2 years agoA superb sounding Ella record with some swingin' arrangements by West Coast bandleader Marty Paich and his 'Dektette'.
The songs are lesser known jazz and popular standards, not her usual Gershwin/Porter fare. The instrumentalist solos sound huge on this mono mix.
Highlights include "Just You, Just Me", "Gotta Be This Or That", "If I Were A Bell". Beautiful singing by Ella.
Nice release and a decent pressing. 3.5 stars. -
Edited 9 years agoThe mono version of this record has been released in 1959, not in 1958. The stereo one in 1960.
