Sound is fantastic. I hate the quad color vinyl though. I get that they're trying to pull in colors from the sleeve but it's just garish; would vastly prefer a black vinyl pressing. I'm nitpicking here; again, the sound is excellent and it's overall a good pressing.

Flat, quiet vinyl. Not silent, but quiet. As with almost 100% of vinyl records, you will hear a few ticks hear and there. Vinyl is not a silent medium. I hear an enormous soundstage here, with Willie front and center. It sounds really good. Full, vibrant sound including those infamous strings. Percussion really pops. Guitar sounds great and Willie is in excellent voice, hitting lots of very high notes and really singing very beautifully, no special allowances needing to be made.
It is fashionable to bash Willie's early records, and I'm really not sure why. This is wonderful. Anyone who loves the voice of Willie Nelson will love this record because his singing is so brilliant. I love the strings and the big arrangements. Willie does this style as well as it has ever been done. That cover of Sunday Morning Coming Down is stunning. Anyone who likes this artist even a little bit will revel in "Kneel at the Feet of Jesus" and "Today I Started Loving You Again", to name two stand-outs.
One last thing, just to be clear. As with almost everything VMP puts out, the photo on the cover is blurry low-res bullshit. It looks terrible. But the record sounds great and the multicolor vinyl really looks pretty when it's spinning on the turntable.
Highly recommended. It was a great month for country music at VMP! Don't miss out on this one. -
Really good pressing. Not a click or pop to be heard. As with many Willie albums I own, his vocals do verge on distortion a few times (maybe they recorded a little hot back then?), but overall, great sound.

Been wanting to grab the original for years, this will have to do for now. Incredible sound, worth it for the three covers on Side 1.

Just got my copy today. Dead quiet (not all VMP records have been). Maybe not his best work but I love the old Nashville sound.

The sound on this record is great. But, it's one of the poorest Willie records I've heard. Why release this one?? Why not "Live At Panther Hall" and countless other early offerings. I really don't understand the need for this one. The production is super sappy for Willie's standards. I'll give VMP a here as they've put out so much great stuff, but this is simply a poor Willie record. :(

Beautiful jacket, dead quiet vinyl, and fantastic AAA mastering. Sold my NM original and got this, I don't regret it.
