anyone have a recommendation for how to open this while still leaving the shrink intact? Want to keep the hype sticker on it.

Awesome box set. To me it’s like going back to my teenage self in 1994 and playing the CD to death, just me and the stereo. The extras are okay, definitely not necessary. The read up in the book was interesting, I definitely learned a lot of things about the album that I didn’t know before from the band and the album mixers point of view. Now how are they going to top this on the 40th anniversary?

An amazing set between the sound, the inserts, and just the overall amount of music you're given for the purchase price. It's worth it. I am diehard fan that could not wait and shelled out the cash right away (roughly $160 at my local record store), but if you wait I am sure this will come down in price.

Flat records, sounds and plays great.
A lot of actual music and records for an anniversary box at this price (looking at you Pink Floyd...).
Fun extras as well. A great box really!

Very happy with this set. Records sound excellent all around. The colors of the LP’s definitely don’t pop like they do in the mock-up but that’s fine. The Woodstock concert is a really fun listen. All the extras are great. I’ve yet to ready through the booklet but looking forward to that as well. Definitely a full on experience.

Alright, strap in, because I'm about to make this review as in depth as possible.

First off, just handling the box on the outside (I received box #9924 from the GD webstore), I can tell it's as sturdy as boxsets get. It's not all one piece that folds out like the Nimrod box, but that doesn't really matter to me.

Before we get to the LPs themselves (which are all mostly different shades of poop/mud/pee), let's talk about the extras. Honestly, they almost make it worth the price of ission for me. What other record comes with doggie poop bags? I will never use them, but still.
The poster, color-your-own album artwork, stencil airplane, bumper sticker, and postcard are all very nice looking. Again, while I will never open the air freshener, I am curious what it smells like; whoever's willing to sacrifice opening theirs to find out, let me know.
I am however very tempted to open the pins; part of me wants to leave the set complete and together as is, but another part of me thinks it would be super cool to stick the pins on a denim jacket, to my guitar strap or something.

Alright, now let's move on to the LPs. Each one to my eyes came flat and relatively clean, but the paper sleeves were promptly thrown away in favor of high quality rice paper.

LP1: It's fucking Dookie, one of the defining albums of their career and the 90s, what else needs to be said? I'll be using this LP as my go-to copy, as I will readily it that I was a fucking idiot and didn't know any better when I bought the 2020 Barnes and Noble shit-colored copy to spin on my Victrola all in one back when I first entered this hobby as COVID lockdowns began. Don't worry, I have long since upgraded. I'll move on before the pitchforks come out...

LP2: The demos are fucking fantastic. Basket Case with completely changed lyrics and When It's Time are the highlights for me in of the 4-tracks.
In the past, I've heard versions of the cassette demo that have floated around YouTube a couple times, but couldn't tell you if they were cleaned up/restored specifically for this set. I'd imagine so.

LP3: The outtakes are again spectacular but I can't help but want more. Getting 409/Christie Road rerecorded with the production values of a major record label is another highlight of the entire set, but we already have the exact same version of J.A.R. on International Superhits, and the same goes with the other songs on Shenanigans. The etching on side 2 is fun, but I can't help but think what could have gone on that side instead. Perhaps snippets of the actual recording sessions similar to the recent Beatles rereleases? Just an idea. I'll move on before it sounds like I'm bitching too much.

LP4: I already own the all black RSD release of Woodstock 1994, but I love the mud color on this. Won't bother doing an A/B comparison as I'd imagine they'd use the same master cut. Debating on whether or not to get rid of the RSD copy now.

LPs 5+6: An entire live set of Dookie era Green Day will always be a treat to hear, but I imagine they floated around the idea of having these two final LPs be "Jaded in Chicago" instead. They might not have wanted to deal with rights issues with MTV though.

In conclusion, this singlehandedly takes the position of favorite boxset in my collection.

And if you read this far...

“numbered”…? where? my box is nekkid. 😵‍💫

                  EDIT: #7325. thanks ketavong!

looked over my LPs and yeaaaahh the paper inners were.. a choice. i had a few discs with superficial scratches that looked pretty rough. i did a test play on a section of Live in Barcelona though and all i can say is… i can see why it was unreleased. it just sounds haggard — like a low quality limewire . am looking forward to listening over the whole set though, the package seems solid.

Fantastic box set and I absolutely love the demos disc. Excellent sound quality and fun extras included in the box.
Fun colours even if they are all based on different shades of poo.

Definitely worth the money and I’m glad I went for the coloured vinyl rather than standard black.

This is how a boxset should be made! So many goodies and the coloured vinyl is icing on the cake.

If I had to nit pic, paper jackets and no inners on the albums (aside dookie) was disappointing considering the price.
