Wow, this is terrible. All due respect to Miles, and as Nick said below, this album has always had audiophile issues? and I am sure he did the best he could? but wow does it lacks punch, clarity, you name it. The sad thing is — because of Rhino HiFi, we KNOW this could sound amazing AND at the same price point. Oh well.

I don’t have the 1/2 speed edition but I do have this which was part of my deluxe with the SF concert and am very impressed. Lots of detail and even a few instruments here and there I don’t recall hearing before. On an album this popular that I must have listened to an inordinate amount of times that is something. I need to replay my 1971 US Decca Doug Sax W1 and listen again for comparison which is my other best. I see a mix of love and ugh on the 1/2 speed reviews so I think I stumbled into the right one.

Who’s Next was never a HiFi album but I’ve never heard it sound better than this. Miles did an incredible job considering how poor the master tapes sound.
