Edited one year agoThe record was covered in white dust coming fresh out of the sleeve. There are random light pops throughout but nothing too severe.
As others have mentioned before me the mastering is somewhat lackluster on this one: the mix is excessively warm to the point of sounding a bit flat and dull.
Still a great album. -
Edited one year agoClean clean clean. Mine was lovely right out the sleeve. I never get lucky on quality control addled BS-presses, but here I am with one of my favourite albums of all time. Mastering is excellent, tight and dynamic. If you were let the hell down by the recent Dead press, this should be a nice tonic for you. -
Been waiting on this one for a long time. I was expecting to hear, "stick-a-bush, we might blow up but we won't go pop" and obviously this pressing has none of that nor any skits. Imo that's one aspect that made this album so much fun. I'm grateful to have the tunes on wax but to say it's not missing anything or it's a perfect press is a stretch. I also think more bass is needed with this repress.

No skitz but hey this GZ pressing is superb. I think GZ is pressing in Canada? Way better pressing than the CZ bootlegs they were pushing out some years ago. If you want the music and can on the skitz then this is the one to own. -
I know I am in the minority, I'm personally fine with the skits being gone. Frankly, the skits always bugged me since I was a kid across the whole De La discography. Sonically sounds good to me. -
No skits and unlike others here, I don't think that this pressing is good. The recent reissues of "3 Feet High..." and "De La Soul Is Dead" sound way better to me. -
Super irritated that the intros and interstitial tracks were clipped from this reissue. All the stuff fit on my OG copy, and it sounds great, but this really messes with the flow of the album, and what makes it so great. Thumbs Down.

Edited one year agoMediocre pressing. Low volume, pretty flat-sounding and undynamic....nowhere near as good as the excellent '3 Feet High And Rising' reissue. Lots of paper debris on the disc, slightly warped and quite a bit of crackling/surface noise in places. Disappointing. -
