This is the best pressing of this album I’ve yet to hear. All of the instruments are dynamic and sound alive.
The bass on the song “Rain” is tight and realistic sounding.
On “Hey Jude” you can hear the tambourine and cymbals ringing in their own space.
If you can find a nice copy of this pressing at a reasonable price, grab it. -
Edited 2 years agoI find the comments regarding light bass on Japanese releases interesting. IMO they reveal a detailed and energetic soundscape with detailed bass guitar with great definition and non bloated sound. As a semi pro bassist who also records. I find this tonal quality to be highly enjoyable. Bass guitar is a mid range instrument. So. If you want more sub bass or bloat turn on your sub woofers. I think many get confused regarding what "bass" really is. It is certainly not the bass guitar solely. IMO the worst recording is a mix where the bass guitar is pushed into the bass drum...thus removing all tonal context of the bass guitar other than :more bass: This can easily been heard on the new Giles mixes. IF you want detail and precision...the Japanese def know how to press that kind of record.

A little light on the bass and overall not a fantastic sounding record, but much better overall SQ than the 45's that some of these tracks came on.
