I've ed this and tried to burn. Obviously i took out the gaps that are automatically inserted using Nero Express but i note that although the tracks are all the length described above (save for 'Start anew' which for some reason is 4:18 and not 4:08 shown above), the total length of the CD is 80:30 so i had to create an overburn. I guess the Japs used the longer rare CD's not the usual 80 minute ones?

Very disapointed with this release, everyone says how quality these Japanese sets are but the following tracks are not even lossless
Don't Stand Another Chancel, Let's Wait Awhile, Start Anew (This one really ticks me off, my entire reason for buying this), The Pleasure Principle, Two To The Power Of Love, When I Think Of You, You Want This (Remix). They are all sourced from 320kbps files. What a joke. I am so mad!!!

Do NOT Listen to these overly critical and snobby reviews. This IS A GREAT COMPILATION.
This IS absolutely an official release and one in a series that is done quite well. In case you didn’t know, remastering dance tunes that really don’t need it, just creates loudness wars and clipping. Also, George Michael’s Older has absolutely nothing to do with the mastering for this release. Don’t be jerkish just bc you didn’t like the way it sounds or picking apart things for literally no reason at all.
These are actually very well done releases (in a budget series). Geez 🙄 …and same goes to the reviewers complaining about “unfaithful edits and compressed videos.” The edits are true to the US versions (where needed). The Pleasure Principle didn’t have a single version in US or Japan. But it would have made since to use the UK remix edit bc that was the universally played version on the radio at the time of release.
If you want to be so critical, then the Dream Street video should have been left off bc it was not a single in Japan.
This is not an audiophile release but it’s a darn good release for the money you pay. You will NEVER get this kind of comprehensive compilation in many other territories beyond Japan in today’s cd/dvd market. Also, these set always include a few extras/rareties. Instead trying to be a sound snob, you guys should look at other releases in this series. Check out Chaka Khan: it’s worth it just to have the B-side “lovers touch” on cd. -
Can someone tell me if the image of the video clips are perfect? Because I bought a collection in mpeg2 format and they are not

Edited 2 years agoI hope they"re going to release a UK Singles Collection someday. The running order of the first disc and the versions used would be very different. Songs like "Let's Wait Awhile", "The Pleasure Principle", "Alright", "Escapade", "Love Will Never Do" or "The Best Things In Life Are Free" were released in UK as remixed versions that never appeared on any JJ compilation. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Edited 2 years agoA very confusing and misleading release. As stated by others, the song titles and edits are wrong. As for the "remastered" claim... They did boost vocals and certain instruments to sound more clear, but by no means is this an actual remastered collection. Some fans have complained its way too loud and I have to agree. The bass is so loud it distorted at places, no matter which headphones or speakers I used to listen to it. If you compare this release to George Michael's Older reissue of 2022,which is fully remastered.. There's a huge difference in quality there. I think this collection is not worth getting.
As for the music videos... They're at max 1080p and letterbox. You don't have to be a genius to understand shoving every single Janet Jackson video onto one single DVD only to call it "remastered" is shady business. Don't get fooled by this release. You're better off with the Number Ones double-CD or even the 2015 remastered albums also from Japan.
To be completely honest and brutal here, I think this whole release is extremely shady and it's difficult to wrap my head around the fact that this is an actual official release. -
Edited 2 years agoTo be honest, it is a pity we did not get all real original Japanese single edits here. I took some time and compared edits on this compilation with real Japanese singles I own. Let's take a look at CD1:)
YOUNG LOVE (Edited Version) it is REAL edit from Japanese 7" single.
DON'T STAND ANOTHER CHANCE - NOT REAL version from 7" single. It is taken from Dream Street album. Original 7" version is a bit longer.
TWO TO THE POWER OF LOVE - NOT REAL version from 7" single. It is taken from Dream Street album. Original 7" version is a tiny bit shorter.
START ANEW - REAL edit from Japanese 7" single.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY - NOT REAL version from 7" single. This compilation used re-created edit from album version, the same version was used on Design of a decade album.
NASTY - NOT REAL version from 7" single. This compilation has re-created edit from original Album version. Original 7" version on Japanese single is Edit Of Remix.
WHEN I THINK OF YOU - REAL version from 7" single.
CONTROL - NOT REAL version from 7" single. This compilation has re-created edit from original Album version. Original 7" version on Japanese single does not have keyboard slide at the beginning.
LET'S WAIT AWHILE - REAL version from 7" single.
THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE - REAL version from 7" single.
MISS YOU MUCH (7" Edit) - REAL version from Japanese mini single (as pictured on the sleeve)
RHYTHM NATION (7" Edit) - REAL version from Japanese mini single.
ESCAPADE - REAL version from Japanese mini single.
ALRIGHT (7" R&B Mix) - NOT REAL/CORRECT version from Japanese mini single. This compilation has mistakenly used Alright (7" Remix) featuring Heavy D instead of original Japanese single version as pictured on the sleeve/booklet to this compilation. Alright (7" Remix) was released in Japan on "Alright - The remixes" compilation but not as a single.
COME BACK TO ME (7" I’m Beggin' You Mix) - REAL version from Japanese single.
BLACK CAT (Video Mix / Short Solo) - REAL version from Japanese single.
LOVE WILL NEVER DO (Without You) (Single Version) 4:34 - REAL version from Japanese single
STATE OF THE WORLD (United Nations 7") - It was never released on 7" or mini single. This version is from "State of the world - The remixes" compilation as it is also shown in the booklet to this Japanese Singles Collection.
THAT'S THE WAY LOVE GOES - REAL version from Japanese mini single.
Hopefully this helped. -
¿Están Seguros Que Las Canciones "Go Deep" y "You" Son 2 Veces Versiones del álbum en Duración 4:44?
¡¡¡Por Dios!!! Mi Espacio del CD2 No Existe Porque el Uso de Mi CD Virgen He Decidido Cambiar Como Hacen Los Videos Por Ejemplo Hecho Yo de Editar Eliminando Porcentajes Yo Completo Hasta 4 Minutos 24 de Segundo Sumado Pista 31 (CD2: Track 12) Como También El Siguiente Pista 32 Como 4 Minutos de 9 Segundos Sin Cumplir Las Actualizaciones en Japón
Es Mala Onda Porque Mi CD Tiene de 80 Minutos y Mi Argentina Ya No Venden Más de Ser 90 Minutos
Es Crítica Que Llevan Años Antes Editado y Convertió Estar Lejos Las importadas
Son 80 Minutos de 6 Segundos Pero Mi CD No Alcanza Las Listas Porque Mi Windows Media Player Dice Que Llegó Hasta 79:57 min. de Menos Y Por Eso Repito Que He Decidido Borrar Porcentajes Bises Que Agregaron Las Duraciones Para el Audio y También Poniendo 3 Segundos de Pausas
Son Hecho Mi Promo Sin DVD El Título "Japanese Singles Collection -Greatest Hits-" -
Just got this in the post from Amazon UK. My copy comes with a sealable plastic cover. I'd love to get spare covers for my other Japanese Singles Collection releases albeit most of the rest are slimmer cases. Any idea where to get either size?
