Billy Joel – 52nd Street

Mastering is good, surface noise is not. Overall it is still a good listen but quieter ages can be very noisy.

It does sound good, but this recording always has done. 9 SACD versions is testament to this. My copy is flat and near silent but does have a few non fill rips quite common to MPO pressings. Its a lovely finish and it sounds good througout with no igd, just a shame about the groove defects.

Billy and his band are in my living room!!! It's impressive how this album sounds, it's beautiful to hear that piano and the beat of the drums.
The pressing is clean and silent, and the dynamics are spectacular, nothing to envy a MOFI of several dollars more.

i know everyones set-ups etc are different. after comparing this " https://discogs.programascracks.com/release/1224493-Billy-Joel-52nd-Street " vs this remaster...errr this sounds a bit muddy to the ears unless i tweak the treble knob almost full blast/bass cranked down a smidge. kinda one of those all mid-range feel albums. These 50th re-issues are starting to feel more like wally-world eye candy :(

Like others have said the mastering on this release is pretty good. Although personally my copy has a lot of static and popping even after cleaning my stylus unfortunately.

Fantastic pressing. This is the only non first pressing of the Joel albums I don't have, so I can't compare. However, they did a great job on it and I don't feel I need to seek an unopened first press.

I'm normally an advocate of 1st pressings from the 70's. However, this 2022 pressing actually helps the soundstage soar. Contrary to the comment below mine, this is a sharp audio improvement on a wonderful album.

Nothing special, sound-wise, but pretty vinyl. Price is right for a clean copy of this meh tame album.

This pressing is phenomenal! The sound is really fantastic and the dynamics are spectacular. The vinyl is flat, clean, and silent. The "blue swirl" color is beautiful. The bass and drums are punchy and Billy's piano sounds like a... carnival! (Oomph... apologies.)

New pressings of Billy's albums are hard-to-find these days and this release truly does not disappoint. After hearing about the disastrous box set I was hoping we would get some well-pressed standalone releases and Walmart does not disappoint! If you're on the fence, pull the trigger—this pressing is perfect for the price and sounds great. Don't hesitate or Billy will disappear again!
