My copy is fantastic, no complaints. Surprised to see some of comments, I must have lucked out and got a quiet pressing. -

It’s nothing to shout about. It’s a digital recording. Not a quiet vinyl. Couple of ticks here and there. Then again, it’s not an expensive record compared to your very first press. I am just grateful to find a copy of this, while looking for my original cd lying somewhere in the house.

Any sound engineer, please confirm, the bit rate should not exceed 20bit...., 24 I don't think... the range should not exceed 44.1khz either.... WHY DID THEY NOT USE HIGHER QUALITY WHEN DIGITIZING? Could it be that the original "tapes" did not exceed these ranges either, being a single digital master for all editions and formats already in 1989? -
WELL..... A friend brought me this edition as a gift from London to Argentina, I am a purist, very purist of sound, and in my opinion its quality is MEDIOCRE... I don't think it exceeds the 20bit rate and not even crazy about 44.1khz, it's just a little better than the cd... but seeing the terrible experiences with other editions, even those from 1989, I recommend this edition and the cd, both... I only read that the 1989 edition of Argentina (I'm looking for it here) and Elektra's from the USA are the only ones that really sound good...

Edited one year agoBought mine from Amazon, just arrived today. Ticks in first few minutes of Plainsong. Also a repeating loud tick that lasts about a minute. That I can't stand. Distortion at the end of Fascination Street. Too bad, I like the sound overall. But this one will be going back. Like Icarus, I flew too close to the Sun and the wax melted. Back to CD, probably.

Edited one year agoI didn't notice any particular hiss or pops. The sound is excellent, perhaps the dynamics could be improved.
By reading so many negative reviews I was prepared for the worst... but I like how it sounds. -
How is it possible to put on the market a such bad pressing ??? Lot of crackles, even after cleaning ! Very disappointed with this !
