The pressing itself doesn't sound too bad, but the PVC packaging was a terrible idea. It's well known what PVC sleeves do to vinyl and this is no exception. I just took this out of the sleeve to play it, and the disc is absolutely covered in sheen. It's as if they intended for us to throw this sleeve away and find a replacement because it's only going to get worse over time. The sheen causes a noticeable hiss throughout the record, heard in between tracks. Great album, shoddy pressing.

Other comments generally correct - I have no sound issues, but the PVC packaging is awful, and the record hardly fits inside. Mine is starting to split at the bottom with the record poking out. The PVC sticks to the record, so you'll want to put it in a new inner sleeve, but good luck on getting it in the PVC again without ripping it open.

i feel the sound quality is fine on my copy---but the volume seems low. I really have to crank up the volume of my stereo to get a proper listen to it, as compared to other records. Anyone else notice this? Otherwise it's a really good pressing with a beautiful PVC packaging.

Also a word of advice to anyone who owns it, do NOT store your vinyl in the PVC sleeve, as PVC sleeves have a tendency to stick to the record. If you are storing it in the sleeve, at least put the record in its own inner sleeve, not provided.

Can also confirm that mine came with a bunch of nasty scratches through the first track and I got a nasty pop through the whole first verse from 'He looked up'. Lucky I'm a bit of an experience dick like that and really dont mind it in that particular song, or verse, but the noise through Beachland Ballroom (Track B1) is not ace. Bought from JB Hifi in Australia on day of release (so likely shipped in a bulk order), so I don't think it's due to mishandling. Still factory sealed; looks like they're coming outta the factory this way unfortunately.

4 stars as the packaging is odd and undersized for the record otherwise very happy with pressing

Despite some previous reviews, mine came in perfect condition. Record is flawless and the PVC sleeve is high quality. I can't see how this would easily split as it's thick but flexible - almost rubbery. The sound is really good to me. Haven't heard the 45rpm delux edition but my thoughts are that the sound quality between the two would be negligible as this sounds great. Keen to compare the two though. The amber colour looks amazing in both the sleeve and the record. Even though it's very minimalist in presentation, it's a really unique addition to my collection.

P.S. if you buy this version, be sure to store the actual record in a mofi or similar anti static sleeve as prolonged with the PVC sleeve over the years could affect it's quality.

5 star album, MTT 420 RR and The End are some of Idles best but beware this vinyl - I've had two replacements as the first two had scratches all the way through a track. It was a different track on each, this may have something to do with the bare packaging that's very tight on the record. I may have been unlucky but worth considering if you're purchasing a sealed copy. Not that it matters as much with this genre but it isn't a particularly quiet vinyl.
