Just got my set in the mail and cleaning and spinning! Starting at the beginning with Golden Heart, I’ve never heard this album as good as this. Beautiful set!!!
-
Beautiful set, beautiful, quiet flat vinyl.
cruisey laid back music with wonderful detail . If you are a Mark knopfler fan pick this up. -
Wow, what a great box. The sound is really of a high quality. Smooth, (almost) noiseless vinyl, very nice production, balanced. One of the best sounding vinyl I own. Music wise very mellow, laidback, with the incidental Dire Straits guitar outrage. I like this music on the background. As a hardcore Dire Straits fan, this is a must have (although don't expect the same up tempo music). Mark's guitar play is unique and has a very special place in my heart.

Side C off Golden Heart is totally pressed off-center.
Too bad I only discovered this after the european version was no longer available at my retailer. Which leaves me with the defunct copy.
In case anyone can offer me a flawless sencond disc off Golden Heart, just let me know -
Hello, does anyone knows the exact differences with the original albums (inserts...) ; the quality seems to be under (simple white pouch...)
thanks ! -
awesome awesome awesome! been waiting for this release for some time! just amazing quality and clarity, great bottom end and dynamics... couple of albums were a little noisy in parts but disappeared after a run through my Degritter! Can't understand some of the bad reviews here other than issues with their systems or setup. Yes these albums were recorded or mastered digitally, like everything after the mid 80's but after abandoning collecting CDs everything just sounds better on VINYL... more warmth, bass mid... can't recommend enough.

Just worked through my set, received 6 January 2022. Great! No pressing problems at all. Relaxed music from past Dire Straits period. Didn’t know I would like Knopflers later work so much.
-
Honestly, I'm glad to have this box set in my collection. I absolutely love Mark Knopfler and have been waiting for a collection like this for years. My 3-star rating is for the box set, which I think isn't a very polished product, especially compared to the Dire Straits box set. Sound quality is good, but not great. I'm glad that it hasn't been mastered to be very loud and has good dynamic range. However, it does sound a little "digital" and lacks some slam in the bass and shows smearing in the treble. Quality of vinyl is also not that great as I heard some pops every now and then despite cleaning with an ultrasonic record cleaning machine. Finally, the packaging is good, again not great. The fact that these were not released as gatefold is a travesty. The silver lining is that the sleeves and jackets are of good quality.
Overall, I wish they had put more into this release, they seem to have cut corners and it shows. -
Edited 3 years agoI’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of the remaster and the quality of the pressings. It has a lovely, dare I say analogue, sound. It’s not audiophile quality but it’s definitely very good. You get a very good idea of the sound properties of the guitar amps, and that’s a very good sign. Nice soundstage too. Lovely music, lovely guitar playing. A fine release.
