Edited 2 years agoJunior Jack's original was basically a sampled Brazilian folk song over a rehashed "Thrill Me", not anything clever but it was a big hit. The original release on Play It Again Sam had remixes by Full Intention which was nice but the real treat came when Defected released it in the UK and gave it to David Penn, Wava and Rasmus Faber to rework. Faber's interpretation is the best version since he gave "E Samba" some actual class and credibility by infusing more of the Brazilian heritage.
Faber focused less on the funky house and added vibrant samba drums, horns, tweaked wah-wah guitars and live bass. The big room style breakdown is also removed and replaced with a quainter classier break where the strings & horns are given some solo play. Faber also enlisted the help of Swedish/Brazilian singer Simone Moreno to add vocals which really give the track a nice touch.
