Notes

Gatefold cover.
Dark green labels with wording ''Metronome'' across.

This is the repress version with the typical Phonodisc GmbH 20mm diameter ring around the spindle hole. This, the matrix and the Metronome print on label indicates a 1973 pressing. The first pressing (Neu!) can be recognized by a Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft Pressing Plant 30 mm diameter deep groove ring in center labels.

"Jahresüberblick" or "Jahresübersicht"? The title is handwritten as "Jahresübersicht" on cover but printed on labels and later copies as "Jahresüberblick". Obviously a mistake.

Recorded in December 1971 at the Windrose Studios (Dumont-Time), Hamburg.
Mixed at Ralf Arnie's Star-Musik Studio, Hamburg.

You’ve not heard this record - yet another victim of the loudness wars - until you hear a well-mastered version. I’m familiar with the CD and Tidal - this pressing is in a different league completely. It’s easy on the ears, all the instruments and “vocals” have space, and the details and nuances of the production are present. All wrapping up with a loop.

I really do not understand how it was possible in this time and especially in Dierk's and Planck's studios to get these SOUNDS onto vinyl.
      It is truly miraculous:
The music isn't so much the main point (as I find it isn't either with the first two Kraftwerks), it is the mesmerizing, almost hypnotic effect of the sound(s) when listening to it. Apart from what comes out of my speakers being far superior to many other records of this as well as later times, there are like -how to express that- extra layers(?) sometimes, where one has difficulties to distinguish from which direction the sound actually came or whether it might just have been in one's own head. Some extra 3-dimensionality, if you so will, which, according to my understanding, simply couldn't be in the grooves of a left/right record ...

I guess then, this pressing, which I possess in what I consider VG (and most sellers here seem to sell as VG+ ...), must also be excellent. As, actually, are all Brain-records I own.

If you have come this far and aren't already a sound-freak like me, do yourself a real favour and refrain from purchasing yet another five average records, or this one particular AC/CD of which you already have four to complete your collection. Buy this!
Sit in your armchair and be carried away.

And, no, I am not selling this record, it will be me who parts from it and not the other way round.
And I do not take drugs. ;-)
