Reviews

Some noise during playback. The low frequencies can be heard well, but the high frequencies seem cut off (roll-off), comparing some songs on this album with the same ones on "Dreams The Collection". It's not an audiophile sound, but I couldn't say it's bad either
-
The first record in my set has awful surface noise. A lot of folks probably aren’t listening closely or are playing it on a Crosley.

picked this up today and experiencing none of the issues described in some of these reviews. perhaps the sound is a tiny bit quieter in this remaster than the original tracks, and, yes, the records themselves were a bit tightly packed in the sleeves but certainly nowhere near as bad as some newer vinyls i’ve picked up (polacheck’s desire was awful). 10/10 for me tbh, and so happy i have this now.

Add me to the list of disappointed voices. Was so looking forward to getting this but within seconds of putting it on I knew it didn’t sound right. Exchanged for another copy but still the same, the whole album just doesn’t sound very good.
Will have to try and source an original pressing for a decent price. -

Judging by reviews quality control of this pressing is really horrible. Mine has sides A and C with clearly visible "orange peel" texture which implies temperature problem with one side of the pressing head. Lots of surface noise there which mixes with highs e.g. snares and produces terrible "clipping" effect on songs "Ode..." and "Zombie". In of tonal balance mastering is ok'ish, but source quality is all over the place. Seems like half of tracks are just CD rips at best. Buy only if you can check quality in situ.
-
All the videos on YouTube featuring this anniversary pressing reveal some very obvious distortion with the highs (ex: lead up to chorus in "Ode..." and "Zombie") and it's honestly grating on the ears, so I'm curious is this inherent to the source (i.e. is the same distortion on DOR's vocal highs) or is there better balance on the 1994 OG? Or perhaps as a follow-up, are there certain copies of this pressing in which there is a good balance and the highs don't distort at all?

There is nothing wrong with this Pressing!!!
It Sounds Fantastic.
For me one of the best Albums of the nienties.
