Notes
This version is similar to the 2011 reissue, but has two different sets of stampings and etchings in the runouts: whilst side B was sourced from the "Metropolis" stampers of the aforementioned 2011 reissue; sides A, C and D were sourced from a newer, "Abbey Road" cut instead.
However, both cuts were made by Miles Showell per "MILES" in runouts. Runouts are mostly stamped, "Ⓜ MILES" and "MILES. ABBEY ROAD. ROOM 30" portions etched.
Likely released 2019.
Gatefold sleeve including 44-page booklet.
Made in the E.U.
℗© 1973 Polydor Ltd. UK.
Record 1 has the catalog number "2780505" on both labels.
Record 2 has the catalog number "2780506" on both labels.
Recorded at The Kitchen in Thessally Road, Battersea, while building was still in progress.
Ronnie Lane's Mobile Sound served as control room while ours was being finished.
Mixed at Eel Pie Sound.
Mastered, the Mastering Lab, Los Angeles.
Text on back sleeve:
This music is dedicated to the kids of Goldhawk Road, Carpenders Park, Forest Hill, Stevenage New Town and to all the people we played to at the Marquee and Brighton Aquarium in the summer of '65.

This copy was a great upgrade over my 1980 pressing. Much fuller sound stage and more bass presence in the mix My vinyl was a little sketchy with a couple of scratches from vinyl scrap in the sleeve, but it only resulted in a couple of faint ticks, so more than tolerable.

Edited 2 years agoJust purchased this Feb 2023 and it appears to be the "2019" remaster/repress. My copy plays great across all 4 sides. Etchings for each side include Miles/Abbey Road Room 30. I have not heard this record sound this good since I first bought it in 1973 (younger ears then). A great job all around with reproduction of the original packaging, and the music itself is the best anyone will ever hear from The Who. If you love Quadrophenia, then you will love this pressing. The only thing I would change would be to have the pressing plant go back and use audiophile sleeves rather than the black paper issued with this copy. I should note, however, and for the sake of full disclosure, there are some very minor and very tolerable tracking noises during some of the very quietest parts of the record. Quadrophenia itself is a very dynamic record with very quiet lows alternating frequently with very loud ages, so I guess that is to be expected these days on even the best pressings of this record.

Edited 2 years agoAmazing amazing amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend these GZ media Track Record pressings from The Who.

Good, clean pressing. Very loud music, a little harsh on guitars and vocals are a bit in the back. Sleeve and book are great, and album itself is a masterpiece.

OK this is strange. I just bought it today and side one appears to be done at Metropolis Mastering. Side two has the Abbey Road Room 20 etchings....anyway it sounds great so far. For the price this is a no brainer. I am not familiar with the original pressing however, although I do own the 7 1/2 isp Magtape factory reel to reel tape>
