Does anyone have any insight here as to which reissue of this Lp truly sounds good?
Seems to be a lot of mediocre to poor reviews of some of these pressings on here.
    Thanks🤘🏼

The Vinyl Pressing Info is not totally correct referred to the information Relapse Records is giving on the online store.

I have to echo others as to the quality of the vinyl pressing. I was floored by a friend's vinyl (orange swirl vinyl, so I believe that makes it a 5th pressing), and it was actually the impetus for me to start collecting vinyl. This is without a doubt my favorite metal album, so when I heard the quality differences on vinyl, I rushed out to start collecting. This was my first purchase on Discogs, and I tracked down a 1st pressing 180g black.

When I got it, I was just... disappointed. It feels choked and narrow, especially when the record gets busy or loud. It really feels like it's coming through like... a broken amp, or something. Cleaning my record DID improve the sound quality, and I imagine if I put it into a vinyl vacuum, it might get even better. Maybe there's a lot of mold release gunk or something on these records?

I know that there's a great pressing to be found here, because I've heard it, and it's far and away more developed and rich than the CD version. But my copy, even with the 180g first pressing, is just... problematic. I'm hoping I can improve it.

Buyer beware. If at all possible, listen to this on a trusted system before you spend money.
          • I have no idea why lames praise this album, it's packed with a bunch of basic, cliche, boring, metal riffs that have been done by 100,000 other metal bands. The "Moby Dick" concept doesn't help either, I give it a 1.5 rating since I've heard worse albums. 1.5/5

Leviathan is without doubt Mastodon's pinnacle. Sludgey/Prog Metal that will crush your skull. The vocals can be a bit annoying at times but overall a very good album. 70/100
