I did a side-by-side with my original 1968 UK mono...this almost sounds as good (and much less expensive and easier to find)...

What about the mis-press? I have the RSD version that has "04": Track 1 from Moi (according to Shazam when played at 45RPM) as Side A. I've noticed the stamp on that side A is different than the ones mentioned here (and really not at all close). How do I track it? Do I do a "variant" pressing or what? I wanted to keep it just to say that I have it, but I want to acknowledge that it is the "mis-pressed" version. I haven't seen anyone post theirs to "add to collection." I'd appreciate any guidance.

Everything you would want from a mono mix: direct, present, full sound. Sounds a little thin to me here and there tho. Not quite as punchy as I would like it (see drums on A Day). This is also apparent when the vocals kick in on the first track; the sound lacks clarity and definition and the vocals really obscure the rest of the music. The sound is dynamic but lacks impact. IMO, the RSD release of Pipers is a lot better. That mix benefitted from the mono format, Sauceful doesn't. I don't think the mono mix of this album sounds great. There are too many atmospheric effects and spontaneous overdubs, mono just doesn't do it justice. You need that stereo image to project these sounds. And the drums are just buried in the mix (However, the title track does sound pretty awesome, at least they got that one right and I'll it the detail on See Saw is beautiful). Some parts of the album sound really good like the hard rocking Corporal Clegg. But it sounds like there must have been some digital cleanup during the tape transfer because the sound doesn't preform the way I anticipated. And this is being played through a Sumiko Pearl cart with a brand new Jico SAS stylus and a more than capable amp and speakers. On the plus side, the pressing is flat, centered and absolutely dead quiet. But in the end, I prefer the stereo mix. Would have also enjoyed a special fold-out cover like the RSD Pipers release.

My copy sounds great, glad I managed to get this one on RSD.

Great pressing. Quiet vinyl. Music is well mastered with good deep bass. I've never had the original pressing as they are so hard to get a hold of in good condition without costing an arm and a leg.

Opened my copy today, and I have no issues with either side playing nothing but the music from the debut album of the Pink Floyd that we all know today (Roger, David, Richard & Nick),including the last Syd Barret song to appear on a PF.

Also, I am very happy with my this pressing. The Pink Floyd team really do a great job on these reissues. In this case, it's a never before release in mono and the mix is amazing. The vinyl had NO pops, noise, and I didn't even clean it! The vinyl is also housed in a high quality paper outer/plastic lined inner, which overall makes this a must own for any Floyd or fan of psychedelic rock.

Discover early Pink Floyd. Make sure you put the headphones on, and set the controls for the heart of the sun.....

Just got mine today and side a is a continuous dance jam...sounds great played at both speeds...side b is the proper b side...best April's fools or one serious misprint...I dunno

The copy I was able to pick up sounds AMAZING. Dead silent wax, punchy and mono :)

My copy sounds great. Initially I had a problem with some really loud pops on side b during the first half of Saucerful of Secrets but it mostly went away after cleaning. I'm ecstatic that I was able to pick this one up.

My copy has no issues. Side A plays fine and is the correct tracks. There is a youtube video up from a gentleman and his friends copies have one continuous track as Side A. The describe as an odd dance track sounding piece. They claim Side B is fine.
