Compared to Low, to my ears 'Heroes' is a step back. Except the standout 'Heroes' single, the album comes across as trying to be Low v2 but in a safer less inspired way.

My original copy (bought on day of release) has a third record label enclosed (a duplicate of the side 2 label)!

Hey. Is the first pressing vinyl cover of heroes glossy?

Has anyone else experienced an annoying distorted sound during the bass synthesizer sounds on B2? I suspect it's an error on the early pressings..

Hi I have APL1 2522. Except “Heroes” is in quotes. Also although the typed code on the label say APL1 2522 the etching on the vinyl says ARLI. What doesn’t this mean?

Have seen some pictures online that seem to show that there was not only a contract pressing for this album made in RCA's Italian plant, but also one made in the Island Records plant!
It would come under this release page, as the album title on the orange RCA label doesn't have the quote marks around it.
Story goes that because Elvis died a few months before it was released, the regular plant was too busy repressing his stuff to press all of Heroes!

                    Dear All ,
My pressing Has Laminated Sleeve (Matrix details below) BUT the LABELS are LIGHT BROWN / GOLD... , I can't seem to find any info on such variation. Any pointers? One sure thing is I need to bring the treble up on the amp, to get some sort of balance and definition , where i usually listen to things, flat. With this pressing the sound seems a little thin overall.
What version is this? and How does it compare to the RCA Orange labels so widely discussed and appreciated on this forum? - Thanks!
                    (Matrix / Runout
                    Side A): (Etched) PL-12522-A-2 [Crossed out: AFL-1-2522-A]
                    Side B : Etched PL-12522-B-2 'sterling' [Crossed out: (AFL-1-2522-B)

Bowie's Heroes remains the most commercial of the West Berlin trilogy and features Brian Eno, Carlos Alomar and Robert Fripp on keys and guitar. From the raucous opener 'Beauty and the Beast' right to the closing number 'The Secret Life Of Arabia', Bowie crafts each song as unique bodies of work weaving seamlessly from start to finish. Gone is the blue-eyed soul of Young Americans and the glam rock of Ziggy Stardust and instead Bowie paves the way for what would become new wave and synth-pop. Pure genius as 'Heroes' would go on to become a Bowie staple some forty years later.
