Reviews

I read all the reviews and it had me really worried to listen to my pressing, but when I tell you this is one of my best sounding albums.. I mean it! Mine sounds wonderful, barely any pops or clicks or any surface noise. I really like my pressing and I'm so glad to finally own this album on record after wanting it for so long.
-
The first few tracks have a good amount of surface noise, and track 3 has a scuff that causes distortion for about 15-20 seconds. After that it cleans up and plays well.
Equipment used:
* Rega Planar 6 w/NEO PSU
* Rega Exact cartridge
* Rega Elex-R
* Dali Oberon 5
* Blue Jeans Cables + interconnects

I guess I'm not the only one, then. My 1978 Capitols sound better than this, its a sizzly mess I thought it was static; cleaning did little to improve the noise. I'm bummed.

GZ media can kiss me arse...lol///Might be the largest pressing plant on the planet, but ANY label that chooses their complete lack of any quality or professional self-respect will not get a penny out of my wallet.

This is the dirtiest "High quality remaster" I have ever bought and I have spent thousands on albums. I put it through the ultrasonic cleaner and it still is the noisest new record I have. There are lots of pops. "Hold On" has a squiggly scratch that pops about 8 times before I get past it. I Bought it on Amazon and unfortunately by the time I got around checking it out it was too late to return it. $40 wasted. By the way, I prefer the original mix. This sounds slow. Maybe a few more listens and it will sound better to me. Maybe Yoko should talk to McCartney and find out where he has his albums Pressed!

Wish I read this before purchasing the vinyl. Truly awful vinyl quality. Noisy as hell. And I agree I think earlier mix may have been better.

Edited 6 years agoLet me be brief, this pressing SUCKS. It sounds like a forty year old record! Non-fill and uncleanable surface noise abound. What a shame. This will be dumped for a pressing done elsewhere. This was pressed at GZ media. Keep this in mind, GZ Media is well known by collectors the world over to reliably produce a LOW QUALITY PRODUCT. Oh, and you can bet that they know it. Since they've been cranking out said shit product for a very long time now-- you should assume that this is a feature and not a bug of their manufacturing process. If they wanted to do better, they would. They obviously don't.
Update 12/19/2018: I have now tried two copies-- both suck. This is a cheap, low quality pressing with loads of ticks, loud non-fill distortion, and other rotational noise. There may be a lucky few that get clean copies but your chances, based upon my experience, are very slim indeed. Prepare for a noisy record that you will not be able to improve much by cleaning. -
GZ Vinyl pressed these. My copies were ordered in the US and are black vinyl. They were dusty and needed cleaning a few times. They still were noisy with pops and no-fill. Both inner sleeves were ripped through inside from the heavy weight of records. Ron McMaster did a good job with the mastering. The sound of the music itself is great.
