I beg to differ. If I was stuck on an island and I had to choose only one Detroit collection this would be the one.
The sound is really deep and sometimes introvert but never over the line - Always with focus and direction. Of course Drexciyas, Claude Young and the rest have contributed with amazingly beautiful tracks but Kevin Saunderson sums it up with the the sample "on the move!"
Omega87: If you have an album that beats this one I would love to hear it! -
I am sorry but I wish to disagree, this compilation comparing to most other Detroit collections is not that good. Most tracks are average if not poor, some very good ones (Atkins\Bonds\Barnett...) but most are in vote 2\3 range. I say this as a big Detoit fan, if you wish to spend money on techno records save them for better releases!

Just like my fellow reviewer I must re-iterate that this also got me SERIOUSLY into Detroit Techno & opened my head up to Stacey Pullen, Juan Atkins,Claude Young etc etc.
A very special year 1996 was for me when it comes to music & this was no exception.
My faves are:8th Wonder, Zephyr,Wiggin(rmx),Art Of Stalking as well as both Eddie Flashin' Fowlkes tracks(who compiled this by the way!)...A TRUE album -
