First release on Bingo marking the start of a slew of great, breakbeat heavy garage rollers that had MCs up and down the UK rushing for the nearest microphone.

Distraction is the tune that Stanton Warriors mix with The Streets' Has It Come To This on their mix CD The Stanton Session from 2001

Only just discovered this little gem. Not a huge fan of the B side, but Hold On is an ace, bleepy bassline tune. You could imagine it as the obscure instrumental B side to a Wiley record.
It's also the sort of tune that you could imagine someone like Jerome Hill or Si Begg throwing in to one of their sets. -
Zinc, one of my favourite DJs and producers, show his talent and ease with which he's able to apply his musically sensibility to other forms of breakbeat music, not just DNB/Jungle. Some saw it as a sell out but maybe this was just jealousy. In the clubs, this tune rocked and opened my eyes to what the garage scene was about and made me check its roots with producers like Groove Chronicles. As Top Tune says, the older I get the further back i travel for new music...maybe you should too ;)

Gimme that funky ass bassline. Say please! This tune has no manners and thats why so many people loved it DJ Zinc was the first to cross pollinate mainstream UKG with a hard breaks sound. DJ Narrows soon followed and these two have remained the bench mark. This breaks fussion sound didnt last but paved the way for a full on grime assault led by Wiley & the musical mob and canned by Slimzee. I have lost track with the scene a little in the last few years and am increasingly pulled back to older and older bits of UKG.
