Dylan Carlson never composed rock music, but he loves - more than anyone else! – the raw material of rock music: distorted sounds. His fascination for the psychedelic power of sonic distorted vibrations was the first intuition for the creation of a new kind of music. He slowed down Black Sabbath sepulchral riffs and amplified their bass frequencies into a noisy direction, deeper than Melvins’ one just some years before. First Earth album represents the transformation: from a dilated extreme doom/noise metal to the pure vibration. In 1993, when everyone in Seattle (even King Buzzo) pursued the perfect rock song, he completely deconstructed rock music creating an unusual wall of sound, close to kosmische musik and minimalism. Yet Earth music is so raw, inaccurate and dirty that cannot have any deliberate intellectual claim…in pure rock style!
