Someone at MFSL cranked the highs to 11 on this one.

Probably my most disappointing MoFi. The vinyl stock is dead quiet and flat, as I've come to expect from MoFi/RTI in general, but good GOD the sibilance on the cymbals is ridiculous. It detracts from the music so much it's almost unlistenable. It's most prevalent on Boogie Shoes but it's throughout the entire album. 10/10 pressing, 2/10 mastering. Skip this one, it's the first and probably the last Silver Label release I buy from MoFi.

My copy is fine, there is a bit of background noise, but the music sounds amazing enough that it doesn't really while I listen. The bass is punchy and deep, the mids are clear and articulated, and the highs are effortless and spacious. I'm recommending this based on hearing it on this copy alone, I have no idea how other releases may sound. On top of all that, it's a really fun record with amazing rhythms and energy! What's not to love?

Reasonable pressing - it’s definitely not audiophile nirvana, but I suspect the master tape is not in the greatest condition. A little too bright and can be fatiguing, but the bass is palpable and well presented. Vinyl is noisy, and this has been a constant complaint with the Silver Lsbel MOFI series - I don’t own one that is even remotely quiet.

So many classics on this one! An absolute must have!

Great sound, so-so pressing qualities. Looks a dogs dinner... marks all over. Plays flat and pretty quietly thankgoodness. The Germans and Dutch press better though. For a price in the UK the MOFi pills are hard to swallow but sometimes a top mastering is worth it and theres no other modern reissue of this one

#4501 arrived clean, quiet and flat from Music Direct. As for the mastering. It’s certainly not lacking in high frequency sizzle 😂 not something I’d pull out for an extended critical listening session … but definitely would when looking for something fun and energetic to dance, clean or get ready for a night out to…. The driving funk bass lines are palpable and realistic.
