A Sasha track from early 1993, capturing the signature early Renaissance vibe. In fact, it was part of his Live @ Sermon 1, Temple of Love, Nottinghamshire, 1993 setlist. Many of these tracks later appeared in the Renaissance Mix Collection.

This helped change my idea of what techno was at the time. The pace was slower. The key was in the rhythm too. The claps. The Sueno Latino quick sample was a nice touch too. There isnt too many tracks in my life that bring back as much memories. My friend had the CD single as it was released here in the U.S. Those anthemic strings at 3:21 of the original almost single handedly make me feel like the future of dance music is coming every time I hear it. It puts me back to 1992. There are lots of great parts in this. Lots of great sounds. Parts can play for 2-3 minutes each and keep coming back around and nobody would mind. It sounds like it all comes from the same keyboard. Almost like a good keyboard demo. Well balanced.

Mind ... Body ...Soul (This was the mantra of rave to me)

Just realized how well this would have suited Guerrilla records and I m betting from a couple of samples used on this that Guerilla sound was a major influence on Mark and David.

Great 12" with a nice set of mixes.
Track has bags of energy with the mixture of the tough hard driving synths and lighter riffs leading into big piano loops that give the track an uplifting feel and plenty of contrast. All the mixes are good, but its probably the Original that just takes it.

Is it Techno? Could we better qualify it? Trance? Space?

I've got to agree fully with jamesocm's summing up of this. The original mix is the one where the real heart is at, especially if you were swept up in the positive vibes that were a huge part of the early 90's "house nation". The track is full of uplifting elements - a glorious bassline, sweeping keyboards, nice breaks and those samples jamesocm mention are scattered through the track.

It's quite hard to encapsulate what makes this track work so well, but to me it really stems from the mood of the time, one of hope and openness, which has permeated through to it entirely. A warm place to be :)

I've only known this record because of a lucky buy of an early Warp compilation from 1993, Tequila Slammers & The Jump Jump Groove Generation, which features the original mix. Along with THK/ from the same compilation the full 12" became a wanted item for me.

The original mix is a beautifully crafted piece. Its captures many of the underground soundscapes and samples from the period and elicits a warm glow. I have to say I have found many of Warp's subsequent releases harder to get on with. Sweet track.

The flip mixes are way harder.
