I'm not able to compare with original version, bur this one sound great, both recodrs sound very dynamic , the hight are brillant and the bass are very round and well defined, it's a 'Perfect' for me :)

Also super interested in how this is sounding pls - given their recent ‘best of’ release on vinyl was pretty disappointing in of mastering and edits?

Edited 7 months agoHow is the mastering? It's the original UK mix and not the US remix, right?
D3–D5 are bonus tracks. “Los Burritos” was on the Delicious Vinyl versions, and if I recall, a bit of nothing under 2 minutes. I would have loved it if they had appended “Closer To You,” the non-album A-side from the same era. D4 and D5 are completely finished tracks but nonessential. Maybe they'll grow on me, though. -

No complaints with this thirty year old record. Slight sibilance (hot mix?) but this a lively and dynamic pressing. I have heard no other pressings to compare to but wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this one. -

I have this CD. The release date is wrong above. My copy says 96.5.10 on the obi strip. Does anyone else have this? Can you confirm that this date is right? Thank you -

Put on your dancing shoes! This pressing is fantastic! Clean, flat and flawless. It's dynamic and has a full warm sound. -

Mind Trips is a moody masterpiece. It deserves a remix. -

The UK Mix of this album is far superior to the US Mix. Just listen to the track "Dream On Dreamer" and compare to the two albums. It's like night and day. This disco stomper on the UK album features an awesome string section, punchy horns, funky guitar, and a highlighted bongo bridge. In the US mix, many of these elements have been stripped out to leave an absolute husk of a good song. I have no idea why they neutered the track this way, I suppose they felt that it sounded "Too Disco" for 1994 for the American market, and that the radio wouldn't play it. I think it really kept this album from charting higher to be honest.
EDIT: The US Mix of this album is Delicious Vinyl – 2-92319. Avoid at all costs. Does anyone know the backstory regarding the US mix with barcode number DV-5011-2? It seems bizarre to me that Delicious Vinyl would release two mixes of the same album in the US with the same cover. Tracklists are different, and they weirdly repressed it in the US. Very confusing!! -

Arguably The Brand New Heavies’ best album, Brother Sister find them at their peak, artfully blending their early acid jazz experiments with equal parts funk and soul. With the vocals of N’Dea Davenport at their disposal, they were able to create crossover hits such as “Back to Love” and “Dream On Dreamer.” But they were equally adept at simply throwing out the jam on “Fake” or doing mellow downtempo on “Mind Trips.” There are few lackluster tracks as well, but those are more than compensated by the stellar title track. “Brother Sister” is an absolute gem, a meaningful and emotional track that means what it says and says what it means. It’s a powerful track and one that elevates this album high above the others.
