As mentioned by m'learned colleagues, NOT an acquired taste really. If you don't get the erratic twisting time signatures, fluffed notes, atonal paying clashing against bass/guitar/rhythm, mumbled to retched lyrics, and lo-fi production and sound...then i understand, even sympathise with.
But i do get it. And this is an irrefutably compelling of scuzz-rock that goes for the gut as much as The Stooges did. I play it every few years just to let it invigourate me when i have given up on rock, to blow cobwebs in my mind away, and to smile. -

You either get it, or you don’t. Pure rock n roll extreme rock n roll made from the depths of punk rock and psychedelic drugs. A hazy, blurry yet vividly beautiful album -

I often wonder why this album gets labeled as ‘hardcore.’ Sure there’s some powerful singing but the music is definitely more raucous and experimental. Definitely some demented form of punk but not hardcore. Actually, in a way I think they we’re mocking the brutish nature of hardcore with their sometimes comical and outrageous primal screams and overtly-exaggerated vocal deliveries. Great album. Just fun to listen to. There are some nice sounds on this record. Recorded well and has a nice analog warmth to the sound. Stand out track for me is the instrumental ‘Our Friends’ -

My vinyl came with a few light marks from the factory, but thankfully they do not effect play. Sounds clear and dynamic and has a decent weight to it. Reproduction of the original inner sleeve. card has all the tracks from the vinyl , plus 6 bonus tracks : Milo Sorghum and Maize , Electromud , Love Offering , Saturday Morning , Magic Toy Missing , Unpleasant. There's no info on the sleeve regarding these tracks ,so i'm not sure which recording session they are from. -
I can't prove it, but I suspect that these colored vinyl SST pressings all date from 1990, the year the Meat Puppets left SST for London Records.
