Van Halen – Fair Warning

Sounds great! In Unchained I can hear the ride cymbal so clearly during the chorus floating out on the left. It’s just better defined than my OG US. Also the bass is nice and tight. Prominent, but not overpowering at all. This is an awesome presentation of a record that I honestly didn’t expect to sound that much better, but it does. The beginning of Meanstreet didn’t blow me away, but when the drums and bass kick in, I had an instant smile on my face.

Sounds outstanding👍. I had a little low noise leading into Sinner Swing (side 2 Track 1) but a little cleaning helped and the rest of the album was great. I’ve got press #362

Congratulations you just found the best pressing of this available. The lows and the highs are magnificent! Alex‘s symbol sound like they’re gonna pierce your eardrum. The bass drum is thunderous. They really made the drum kit pop on this one. Any drummer would appreciate this mix so much. Best Van Halen mofi done yet !!!

A little sub sonic rumble at least on side 1, otherwise sounding great

My fave VH record! A/b’d it with my US first press and it’s like night and day. MFSL did a great job on this one. Much more bass present and great separation . This is the go to press for this record!

My copy that I added 3 years ago does not have the Columbia House print on the back sleeve. But my record matches Matrix/Runout Variant 2 exactly and isn't familiar with the Matrix/Runouts of the retail copy. Other than not having Columbia House printed on the back jacket this is my copy.

Although I personally love this album by Van Halen (it's my favorite depending on my mood), this particular pressing is a muddy muffled mess - really terrible mastering, it's in my "sell or put up for display only" stack. My go-to for this album is an early 90's CD pressing which is utterly fantastic and everything this album should be. Still in search of an LP pressing that can hang with that CD, but haven't found it yet - this one ain't it.

I have this pressing and it has a large gold “loaned for promotion only” on the front.

Really nice press here. Good balanced mix. Eddie gets pushed out just enough above everything else during solos. Album sounds great!
