Scorpions – Tokyo Tapes

Really nice looking yellow vinyl, flat, quiet. Soft touch cover like the others in the series. This uses the 2015 remaster. I have an original, and I would say it’s improved as best as could be for a live album, not a world of difference. Most importantly, the guitars sound louder and more separated from the bass. Probably a hint more compression to help this. Didn’t wow me like the Fly to the Rainbow 2023 remaster but hard to compare because it’s a live album.

Just wondering how this is even remotely possible? a CD with almost 85 min. is unheard of. How's the sound, if anyone has it?? I hope they didn't sacrifice sound quality for the length of it!!!

[I've a collection of over 2000 CDs, and one is 80 minutes. The CD was designed with Beethoven's 9th symphony in mind, a part of that is 74 minutes and that was supposed to be the maximum you could get out of a CD in of length!]

This is one of the best live albums Ive ever heard. It must have been an unforgettable experience and well worth buying if you see it and want to transport yourself to a live show at home. It is a rare case of the live versions of the album songs actually being just as good or better than the album recordings, brilliant musicianship, they really add much character through their execution. On vinyl it also feels way differrent than if you just stream it in your earphones.

Classic performance from a great band! This was cut before The Scorps made it big in the US, but they were already huge in Japan and other countries. Pressing quality is typical for records of this era. Performance is white hot with mix being very heavy on the guitars. I originally bought this in 1978 but it was only available as an import. One of my personal fave live records.

Is this the same remastering as the 2015 BMG 50th anniversary release ?

Das Scorpions ya! Awesome album & once the tunes start cooking on Side 2 it just never lets up! One of those 'the louder you play it the better it sounds' masterings. Pressed on dead-silent vinyl too.

5oth anniversary ? this came out in '78 . ?

Disc 1 has Polar Nights reinstated but Robot Man is relegated to disc 2 with the additional tracks. Somewhat annoying in that 3 years later a version of Tokyo Tapes was released with the complete 18 song album on one disc....get that if you don't need the extra tracks.

This version clocks in at 84:49 and has the complete 18 song original double album included with no edits other than sides crossfading to keep continuity.

I have this copy with the barcode 0035627000812, RCA International, NL 70008. It's a German pressing double vinyl album but with an interesting twist: side A is almost identical to this album's A side: https://discogs.programascracks.com/Elvis-Presley-Girls-Girls-Girls/release/6777631 (only the order of BIEM/GEMA in the box is different) yet the recording itself is correct. It is the Tokyo Tapes' regular A side... Any info on this one would be appreciated.
