Like a lot of Canadian reissues the print quality on the inlays is quite poor, they are blurry scans of the European inlays with obvious edits for the Canadian market.

This album easily earns a 5/5 from me, with only one song that doesn't quite resonate. It represents the pinnacle of 808 State's early works, standing shoulder to shoulder with "808:90" as a crucial milestone in the evolution of electronic music. This isn't just pure acid house or techno; instead, 808 State has evolved their sound, merging past works and sounds with forward-thinking music that breaches the mainstream sounds. This shift has influenced how other acts incorporate electronic elements into their music. This album also features more lyrical content, beautifully done by early Björk's contributions. Her powerful voice adds a lush, atmospheric quality to the tracks. While this music may not resonate with everyone, those who appreciate its depth will recognize its special quality. It's a must-listen for anyone who loves the early sound on electronic music.

Ok this is a strange one. Firstly the sound is decent. I would not call it full or dynamic though. Secondly a good wet clean was required because there were hairs/ fibers on the stylus after playing a few times. Not a few but covered!!! Both were the same. No idea what that was all about. Thirdly on the 3rd side a noticeable humming through the left channel is present. Overall I would suggest to avoid this pressing sadly.

Very nice sounding reissue, perfect pressing, no crackles or clicks. Mastering is excellent. Absolutely happy to have purchased it.

i believe Cubik was inspired by Eddie 'Flashin" Fowlke's - Goodbye Kiss.

The best studio album by 808 State. It gets the balance of experimentation and accessibility just right and has lots of variety in its 12 (or 13 on CD) tracks. This was the height of their popularity in the UK too, everything just seems to gel.

Classic Album from 808 State here - I rushing to Eastern Bloc to grab a copy of this on the day of release & it didn't disappoint. Great selection of tracks from "Cubic" with it huge synth stabs, "In Yer Face" with its driving rhythm and haunting pads, to the chilled out vibes of "Lift". Well worth a listen.

Have to agree with Steady J on this one. Just doesnt get me going in the way that the earlier state did and was prob my last 808 state purchase from that era.
