Somewhat of a Les Paul inspired album - though lacking the same fire under Les's fingers. The late 50s studio vibe is heavy and appealing. However, most the tunes are a bit too constricted and predictable to keep me coming back to this album. The upbeat boogie-woogie tracks (Firecrackers, Crackerjack) are exceptions though: those tracks have energy, mojo and some fun studio tricks. I wish Billy had cut loose a bit more on the other tunes, but the playing on the other tunes is still tasteful and pleasant (just not quite interesting for me).
