Greatest crossover record I've ever heard. The sound and message uncompromised but still placed in a package that went over with the masses. Every record here can easily get ad placements, and a few of them did. Choice cut off this would definitely be "Right On". Right on, indeed.

My copy is pressed off centered. Unfortunate but still very listenable and I’ll be keeping this copy. -
One of the best hip-hop albums I own on vinyl. Great dynamics and bass. There are no defects or audible pops. The pin wheel pattern is awesome. The rainbow effect of the cover is also really cool. One of my favorite albums.

It's worth the extra cost to the VMP reissue for this album. Ray Janos' cut is lifeless and avoiding a United pressing is always a strong move. -
Crisp clean sound. No sibilance or compression. A faithful representation of the source. A big step up from the Ray Janos cut in every way.
The VMP is quiet, but there are a few minor crackles here and there. Nothing that obstructs listening, but after repeat spins you become more aware of the minor imperfections. I'm no fan of GZ, but compared to the United pressing I'll take it.
Mirror board jacket is sturdy and well crafted. If you choose to wet clean this I would recommend using something gentle or hand cleaning it. I have seen first hand the pinwheel dies on this vinyl start to bleed after an ultra-sonic clean. Depending on your machine of course, but either way it may not be worth the risk. -
How’s the sound quality on this reissue? . . . . . . . -
VMP comes through on this one. The packaging is beautiful and so is the record color variation. Not only that but it sounds crisp and clean! Its become my favorite Roots record after owning it.
