I knew this band cause of my parents. They were extremely mainstream weekend hippies, but somehow they stumbled into Fever Tree as their one flirt with indie bands in 1970. Growing up as a boy, songs like Unlock My Door and Filigree put in my head the first impressions of some Shelly-esque overgrown garden full of old statues, beauty, peace, romance... but also a haunting ghostly presence. It help set up for a suburban SoCal boy a future love for all things gothic and mythical. Amazing that im not alone as Filigree & Shadow would become the name of grand art goths This Mortal Coil's second album. There is nothing to compare to the first Fever Tree album. -

Ninety-nibe and a half was sampled by Madvillain for the track 'America's Most Blunted' -

Wonderfully energetic obscure piece of psychedelic rock. . . . -
This digital reissue (remaster?), coming 42 years after its debut, sounds amazing. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. The soundstage is very wide and deep, making speakers nearly disappear. A masterpiece of 60s psychedeliia.

Creative, expansive, ahead of its time. I am not sure how these guys didn't explode out and become a super band. compared to Surrealistic Pillow, I give this album the win if weren't for White Rabbit. so good.

Texan band relocated to San Francisco - results in a mix of acid-psych rock fuzz grinders & eerie orchestrated mystical ballads infused with eclectic baroque-folk-pop arranged by David Angel [Love fame]. Most songs written by the >30 husband-wife production team Scott & Vivian Holtzman.
Late 60’s psych musical history. -

I'm 32 and just listened to this album for the first time today. I Loved it. Played the whole thing all the way throug. Don't even bother reading the ramblings of a Cowboy below. -
