Emmylou Harris – Wrecking Ball

One of my favorite albums of the 1990's. Love the selection of songs, the haunting atmosphere of the music, and that beautiful voice. I think this pressing sounds pretty good, there's 53 minutes of music on this slab of wax, so you need to turn it up, but once you do, the soundstage is wide, detailed and spacious. Purchased new, my copy has a visible defect in the opening seconds of "Deeper Well" that causes the needle to jump, and there are also a couple of pops just before "Sweet Old World" begins.

My copy is pressed a bit more off-center on Side 1 than I care for, especially as it's a Chris Bellman remaster. However, it's flat and quiet (despite being cut at a bit lower level than average) and it sounds great. No problems with skipping on "Sweet Old World" that others have reported (using a Technics SL-7 linear tracker). 

Jesus Chris Bellman knocked this out of the park!!!!!!!!! Outstanding cut here very dynamic and punchy love it!!!!!!!!!!

Love this pressing. Lot of music pressed on each side so expect to turn it up. Once done you will be rewarded with a warm rich enveloping sound. Highly recommend.

Is my memory failing me? Did Deeper Well have a video?

Sound better than my OG Grapevine CD !

Used to have a very first vinyl pressing on Grapevine ( UK ). Got to see & hear Emmylou with Daniel Lanois in Amsterdam's RAI
& got them to sign it .
Sold to a very nice person from Spain who gave it as a presen to his girlfriend ( that's the only one reason I sold it to him ).
And now I am a proud owner of 3 lp set , which is GREAT .

Such a beautiful album, sounds like being in heaven.
I got to listen to it 15 years after it was released, what a shame.

I love Emmylou but I don't understand the enthusiasm for this record. Sure, it's got a killer line-up and some great songs, but I find the overall feeling from the LP to be on sedate side at times - slow and prodding without any real dynamics in song selection or performance. To me, its a ho-hum record and performance. That said, to each his own!

Great recording. Wow! The music is fantastic. No looking back on this purchase.
