Early disco rap song, released in November 1979. It peaked at number 48 in the US dance chart for a single week. While it didn't chart in the Billboard Hot 100, it narrowly missed out on becoming the first international rap hit, being released shortly after Sugarhill Gang classic, early in 1980.
Rap-O Clap-O is also one of the earliest recorded examples of rapping in Spanish. Additionally, it became the first rap song to be covered and parodied in other languages, including a German version by Danny Boy (3), which can be considered the first Dutch rap hit. In many countries Rap-O Clap-O was Bataan's only charting song, making him a one hit wonder in those territories.
