Edited one month agoVery curious album that hints as an inspiration to Dark Side of The Moon. Patrice Holloway's vocal solo on Walkin' is strikingly similar to the Great Gig In The Sky vocal solo. The Sax soloing on By Your Grace, seems lifted right off Us & Them. This album came out as Dark Side was being recorded and was something of an audiophile wonder that producers and engineers were all hip to. As a listening experience its very cool, especially side two holds together really well. Lots of early Moog playing weaving along with more traditional instruments. One good rocker as well.

According to the back cover text on the LP, a TV documentary was made about the recording. Does anybody know where to find it? Any information would be helpful!

It's all about Walkin'. Probably the most intersting cut on here. -

Edited one year agoThere is a persistent claim that US stereo copies of this album are Stereo EV-4 Quad encoded. Nowhere does it mention this on the sleeve and the Japanese Quad album came out in the same year as the US copy but in QS Quad, so why would the US album be in an inferior Stereo EV-4 format and make no mention of this fact? It makes no sense. In any event I own the Japanese LP and have compared it with the non Japanese stereo LPs via a Quad decoder and there is definitely no Quad encoding. The Japanese Quad is stunning of course. Anyone who thinks they can hear Quad on the stereo is probably just hearing the result of a stereo LP played through a decoder which ain't the same.

A real gem. Any DJ into atmospheric, evocative, cinematic music using vintage synths, pipe organ, and occasional funky rhythms to create psychedelic, dreamscape style music should snag this album if you come across it. Punches way above its weight for a creatively, open-minded DJ.

this LP relies quite a bit on the sounds of the Moog as one would expect. It's difficult to place a genre on this diversified record however there's elements of Blues-Rock, Gospel and ethereal Jazz Sax sounds. it's likely more worthy to those who can appreciate the front and rear sounds of this recording. There's no sing along tunes on here or primitive dance beats. If you're an audio enthusiast it may be worthwhile to seek out the insights of this recording which provide an essential back bone as to how this recording was accomplished. If you search for: " RE/P Files: Inside The First-Ever Commercial Quad Recording Sessions" you're likely to find the article.

Pretty disappointing purchase. Second rate soundtrack for a nonexistent film. Psychedelic is a misnomer
