Crypto was a French record label (created by Jean-Claude Pognant, a top rock and prog promoter in since the 1960's.
The majority of the label was French progressive rock, although there were a few pop and blues titles and a some non-French releases.
The Crypto record label was generally yellow with black print (blue logo with white background to on original 1976 and early 1977 releases). Most LPs were standard single sleeves (gatefolds include: ZAC 6400, ZAC 6402) and a good few also had extra inserts. A few releases were reissued on vinyl on the Crypto was distributed by RCA through to December 1978, after which distribution moved to WEA for a short while (grey labels) and then to Carrere (last releases with red label).
