DC Comics

DC Comics, Inc. (founded in 1934 as National Allied Publications) is an American comic book publisher. DC's most popular characters include Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg.

In 1944, National Allied Publications merged with Detective Comics Inc. and absorbed All-American Publications, at which point it would change its name to National Periodical Publications, Inc. aka National Comics.

Since 2009, it has been a division of DC Entertainment, a company of Time Warner. The initials "DC" came from the company's popular series "Detective Comics".
