A-side "You Really Got Me" is from the Kinks' debut album Kinks. Jimmy Page never played on "You Really Got Me". This is a propagated myth, dispelled by Ray & Dave Davies, please see Wikipedia for more information.

B-side "It's All Right" was recorded and released as a non-album song that also appeared on the American release KINKDOM, and otherwise remained unreleased on LP for years after.

Van Halen's overblown production of this classic Kink's song only makes me appreciate how much more power there is in this original recording.
I recall the Kinks being laughed at for trying to "rock and roll". True, Ray Davies' intelligence led to much "pop" music. There is this revisionist history of music that dictates any pop music is "bubblegum". This is a wrongheaded assumption. I've seen the Lovin' Spoonful relegated to the "bubblegum" genre, and this is clearly wrong. John Sebastian was an immensely talented songwriter. "Rain on the Roof", "Do You Believe In Magic", "Darlin' Be Home Soon", "Summer in the City" are sublime. Not bubblegum.
Davies' sophistication led to many great "pop songs". "Dedicated Follower of Fashion", "Waterloo Sunset", "A Well Respected Man", "Sunny Afternoon", "Victoria", "Lola".
But the Kinks first burst onto the scene with this certified rock and roll classic. In short, it still kicks ass to this day and makes Van Halen sound like eunuchs in a harem.
