José Fortes

José Fortes (born February 16, 1943 in Porto), one of the best known Portuguese sound engineers, is well known for having recorded and produced many artists since the 60s. He developed an early interest in sound, recording his first record by the age of 15 for the label Estúdio Angel II. In recent years José Fortes does most of his work with a mobile recording unit featuring the 801 Matrix monitors from Bowers & Wilkins. His latest work has been mostly dedicated to the recording of classical music and and lecturing on sound.
