This really was a welcome change of direction for the band and probably my favorite record of 2021. Didn't go a week without playing it.
This pressing is OK, some tracks sound better than others and the packaging I quite like with the extra sleeve in a different colour. The record itself is a different press to any other record I have. It has quite a defined edge to it rather than being smooth.
Shame there's no spoken words between songs which is what gives the album a unique depth and context to the working class America the album reflects on.
Will be picking up the special boxset when it becomes available in the UK. Hopefully another press soon rather than in 10 years time...
Seeing them in June for the Rebel Diamonds tour... can't wait! -
Edited one year agoMine has a dished curve on side two so when side one is on the turntable there's a gap between the vinyl and the platter! It's still not really warped though! Poor sleeve quality too. The vinyl is in an oversized inner [same size spine as a single LP] because the outer is a slipsleeve. I had to put in a paper sleever to stop it rattling. The pressing has background swooshing between tracks. It's not the best and I expect more when being scalped by the Universal.
There's a U2 vibe on the opening track. It's a stripped down affair too and when it came out I listened to it once or twice and it failed to grab me. This has no dialogue I must add. The CD does! I find I tire of dialog after hearing it a few times. -
I like the album in of the music but my copy isn’t a good one. There’s at least one minor skip straight out of the packet.
